Tokyo2020: Olympic Games to be played behind closed doors

It has been decided that the biggest sporting event in the world will unfold without cheering crowds in the stands throughout the entire tournament.

The decision comes amidst a growing rate of infection of the Covid-19 virus across the Asian country.

The Local Organising Committee, together with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), after a meeting yesterday decided that it would be ideal to limit a possible spike in the COVID-19 spread by taking away the possibilities of having spectators during the olympic tournament.

The decision to leave out spectators was announced yesterday by the Japanese Minister in charge of Olympics, Tamayo Marukawa.

This decision comes barely two weeks to the start of the Olympic Games which had previously been postponed from 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this year’s Olympic Games, Cameroon will be represented by 12 athletes from various disciplines such as Athletics, Wrestling, Table Tennis, Judo, Swimming, Boxing and Weight lifting.
