“This is not the first time that my detractors have scrutinized my management of the Municipality,” the mayor states.
The Mayor of the Touboro Municipality has fired back at recent claims that have been made about his mismanagement of the Municipality funds.
In an exclusive interview with the Le Messager Newspaper, Mayor Celestine Yandal said it was one of many ploys which his detractors have often orchestrated to question and discredit his management of the Touboro Municipality.
Mayor Celestine Yandal also made it clear in the interview that audit have been carried out on several occasions and that there has been no proof of mismanagement or embezzlement like it has been claimed.
“This is not the first time that my detractors have ordered checks on my management of the Municipality,” he claimed. “Last year there were twelve controls which came in from different Ministries and state Institutions… Unfortunately for them, the checks bore no fruits and the control missions were rather impressed with the state of affairs.”
It is believed that the UNDP mayor of Touboro was being accused of swindling funds from the 80Million FCFA which was meant for the development of a market project in the Municipality.
However, after an investigative mission sent by the Head of State, it was discovered that the project is well in progress and that the allegations of embezzlement were baseless.
