A touching funeral service for Tazi Junior, popularly known as “swaggy” former sports reporter at MMI who passed away on June 29, 2023 took place on Saturday July 15, 2023 at the Catholic Church Bokwango in Buea, Cameroon.
The service was attended by family, friends, and colleagues, who shared touching testimonies about the late reporter.
One of the first people to speak was Tazi Junior’s mother, who said that her son was a “gift from God.” She recalled how he was always a happy and cheerful child, and how he loved to play sports. She said that he was also a very talented writer, and that he had a bright future ahead of him.
Another person who spoke at the funeral was Tazi Junior’s classmate from the Catholic University of Buea where he was pursuing his further studies said that he was a dedicated and hardworking student, and that he was always willing to go the extra mile to get good grades. He also said that he was a great friend and that he will be deeply missed.
One of Tazi’s sisters was also given the chance to speak and her testimony made many drop some tears. She said Tazi as her only brother was a caring and protective human. Despite being small in age, he was always present and ready to protect his sisters. For her, he was just the best of brothers.
Another person who spoke was one of Tazi’s best friends. He praised Tazi for his kind heart and sweet soul. He said from childhood, Tazi has always been good to him. Always ready to support him in his plans, morally and even financially. He said from all the friends he has, Tazi has always occupied the first place in his heart “I will miss him in every aspect of my life” he concluded.
In addition to the testimonies from family and friends, there were also several religious readings at the funeral service. These readings focused on the importance of faith and hope in the face of death.
The funeral service ended with a prayer for Tazi Junior’s soul. The priest who led the service said that Tazi Junior was a “shining light” in the world, and that he will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and love.
