Traditional ruler, son, four others killed in Menchum

A Local chief, his son and four other civilians are reported to have been killed in an attack by herdsmen in Munkep, near Esu, a village in the Menchum Division, North West region of Cameroon.

The attack which cost the lives of Chief Mathias Chi Eweh, his son and the four civilians took place on January 12, 2023.

According to reports, the herdsmen in question came from a locality that borders Nigeria and Cameroon.

“It is alleged that the herdsmen want to capture the disputed area and enforce their religion,” revealed Cameroon News Agency.

Aside from the killings, the herdsmen carried out the destruction of crops on farmlands including the destruction of some houses.
