Accident Tiko
On this Wednesday morning in Tiko, South West Region of Cameroon, one person lost their life while four others sustained serious injuries in a fatal accident.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred as a result of a collision involving a vehicle carrying a heavy-duty load.
“The vehicle, which was transporting five people, witnessed the unfortunate demise of one individual at the scene of the accident,” a reliable source disclosed.
The source added that “the cars were avoiding potholes when they collided with each other. There are two injured women, two injured men, and a child.”
The collision transpired shortly after thousands of Tiko residents had congregated for an ecumenical service aimed at purifying the Tiko Market from unclean spirits. The solemn gathering took place just moments before the unfortunate incident unfolded.
Cameroon consistently records an annual average of 16,583 road accidents, leading to more than 1000 fatalities, according to official statistics, and over 6000 fatalities based on WHO estimates.
The impact of road accidents extends beyond monetary terms, encompassing enduring suffering for the injured, loss of income for family members, and tragic loss of life.
These numbers can surge dramatically during specific incidents, such as the 39 casualties in Ndikinimeki on December 27, 2020, and, more recently, the 55 victims of the Santchou-Dschang cliff on January 27, 2021.
