Some Cameroonians in the Far North region fear spill over effects of a military take over in Chad. President Idriss Deby was killed and replaced by his son. Observers say it is a clear indication of serious political instability. A military transitional government will last for eighteen months.

Where Cameroon’s former first lady will be laid to rest has become a subject of debate in Cameroon. To some Cameroonians, the remains of Germaine Ahidjo may remain in Dakar – Senegal where she died. The remains of Cameroon’s first President Amadou Ahidjo and husband of Germaine are still in Dakar since he died in 1989.

Over three thousand medals will be distributed to Cameroonians excelling in different fields of work to mark national day this year. The commission in charge of selecting beneficiaries started work today.
