The Tubah Council in Mezam division of the North West region of Cameroon will soon start recycling household waste. The mayor of the municipality, Tanjong Martin made the announcement earlier today.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a special clean up campaign across Tubah. Going by the mayor, in the days ahead, the waste will be carried to Mushongmabou, Mile 11 where it would be recycled for other useful purposes.
The cleanup campaign that started at 7 am saw the population cleaning major roads and streets.According to Tanjong, the cleanup campaign is aimed at trying to bring the people to their normal life before the Anglophone crisis.
The mayor noted that people had abandoned their normal habit of hygiene. Many he said, had resorted to using gutters and rivers as dumpsites. Mayor Tanjong Martin also disclosed that the cleanup campaign is going to be a monthly activity to take place every last Thursday of the month.
