Two children of the same parents have been confirmed dead after being swept away by runoff in Mamfe, Manyu Division, South West Region following a heavy downpour.
The children were taken away by the water while they were bathing under the rain according to testimonies from the residents of Latride Street.
After finding the corpse of the two children, they were immediately buried in Mbakem Village, in the Eyumojock Subdivision in the absence of the parents who were not present at the time the. corpses were found.
The deaths of the children is just one amongst many recent cases in the Littoral and South West Regions. Previous incidents involved a family which was buried under the rubble of their collapsed house following a heavy downpour at the PK13 neighborhood in Douala.
Affected denizens of the heavy downpours have called on the state to improve on the drainage systems of towns to avoid similar occurrences caused by overflowing waters.
