Two killed, seven houses set ablaze in Bangolan

Inhabitants of Bangolan in the North West region are still in fear following a military raid in the village.

Tension started on Tuesday after the military invasion in Babessi, a source tells MMI.

On Thursday the source said, “Amba boys from Bangolan attacked the police post at Choupa in the West, one Amba boy was killed while two were injured..

“Military men entered into the village on Friday, and are still there till now. Amba boys have fled while civilians are running and taking refuge in the bushes” she adds.

In the midst of the chaos, “one civilian was shot a few hours ago by the military … some civilians too have been arrested” MMI is told.

Suggesting that some persons in the area are using the conflict to settle scores, another source said a total of seven houses have been razed to ashes.

These, he added includes the store of a notable of Bangolan village.

The tension in Babessi and Bangolan come after the twin attacks on the Galim gendarmerie and police station on March 7.

Some separatist groups later claimed responsibility for the attack that saw security forces wounded, others killed and ammunition taken away.
