Two men have been apprehended by Gendarmes in the city of Douala in a security operation. The pair was arrested for illegal possession of firearms, with which they are believed to have carried out their activities.
The suspects were arrested within the context of a security campaign against organized crime, drug consumption, insecurity, and urban disorder.
The two are said to have been overpowered by Gendarmes at a control checkpoint inside a bus that left Douala heading for Bafoussam in West Region.
Sources say the men were acting suspicious in the bus when it was stopped for a routine check by the elements of the National Gendarmerie.
Their bags were thoroughly searched, and the firearms were found in them. Security agents say the pair had initially resisted being searched by the security until they were overpowered.
The duo have been apprehended, pending an appearance before the court. In the meantime, more investigations are currently ongoing to establish further facts on their activities.
