The first phase of the 11th Convocation of the University of Bamenda has started on the University Campus in Bambili with over 1,000 students graduating from HTTC and HTTTC.

Chairing the convocation ceremony on Saturday, October 16, 2021, meant for graduating students of the Higher Teachers Training College and Higher Technical Teachers Training College of the University of Bamenda, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Theresia Nkou-Akenji stated that the 11th convocation which is not opened to the public is organized in phases in response go government barrier measures against Covid-19.

She called on the graduating students to keep the flag of UBa flying wherever they will be posted while keeping the core values acquired during their professional training.

It is worth mentioning that, The University of Bamenda, two years ago, introduced the UBa E-Learning platform that permits students to learn online while limiting face-to-face learning.

Despite the challenges that came alongside this new form of study, the Vice-Chancellor says the quality of the students graduating is proof that the UBa E-Learning Platform is a success.

“Thanks to the UBa E-Learning platform that fully went operational last year, we were able to successfully run the 2020/2021 school year to completion despite the security and health challenges.”

Graduating students also described the online learning platform as a turning point to their success.

“On the days where we have to make three or four weeks without coming to school, this platform helped us to catch up”, one of the students said.

Also, the coming of Covid-19 the online platform also helped the students in other to have the core content of most of the courses and also to have assessments online.

After three and two years of studies, the students of both the HTTC and HTTTC in the first and second circles were awarded Secondary School Teacher Diploma I (DIPES I) and Secondary School Teacher Diploma II (DIPES II) respectively.

After this first phase of the convocation, the second phase is expected to take place in December 2021.
