Man weds seven wives on same day, including two sisters

A Ugandan businessman, Ssaalongo Nsikonenne Habib Ssezzigu, has set tongues wagging after he wed seven wives at once

The lavish wedding ceremony that has stirred social media sensations was held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in Bugereka village, Mukono district, Uganda.

Among the seven women MMI gathered are two biological sisters.

The wives include Mariam, Madinah, Aisha, Zainabu, Fatuma, Rashida, and Musanyusa

Local media reports say the event unfolded at about 8 a.m.,” when the brides were taken to local salons for styling before they were placed in waiting for Super Custom vans with specialised plates bearing the names of each of the brides.”

After exchanging their marital vows, Nsikonnene and his seven wives held a big procession led by cyclists, through the towns of Kalagi, Kasana, and Nakifuma, amidst applause from people who had lined up on roadsides to witness the ceremony.

Groom presents brand new cars to the wives.

The high point of the event was the presentation of brand-new cars by the groom to each bride.

With their names labelled on the cars, Nikonenne recognised their loyalty to him

While at the reception, the brides found their seats prepared, each labeled with their names.

Nsikonnene, in his speech at the reception, commended his wives for being loyal to him.

“My wives harbour no jealousy amongst themselves,” he declared with pride, adding that “I introduced them separately and decided to wed them all at once to make one big happy family,”

Groom Promise to take more wives in the future.

Nsikonenne, addressing guests at the reception party, said he will be adding some more wives in the future.

“I am still a young man and in the near future, God willing, I cannot say this is the end of it,” he said

In full support of his son, the groom’s father, Hajj Abdul Ssemakula noted that “polygamy has been an age-old practice in this family,” adding that, “his grandfather had six wives who were separated by curtains in a single house.”

“My own late father had five wives, and I myself have four wives who live in one house,” the groom’s father added.

Reports say Nsikonenne broke the record of marrying many wives in Uganda at once
