Uncertainty looms in Nso land as Fon Sehm Mbinglo remains in captivity

Three days after the abduction of the paramount traditional ruler of Nso, Bui division in the North West region of Cameroon, the kidnappers that have identified themselves as separatist fighters have not released the custodian of tradition.

Fon Sehm Mbinglo who represents the highest traditional authority in Nso is under the control and orders of forces fighting for the restoration of Ambazonia statehood. To a source in Meluf, a village under the paramount ruler, “the kidnap of the fon is a desecration of the land. This is not a good sign for our people “.

Following the abduction of the Fon, Nso highest traditional secret society has not reacted according to our source in Kumbo.
To the informant, “the Fon had hopes and confidence on the military and the administration and not the culture and tradition of the people. It’s only the military that can secure his release “.

Though some people in Kumbo are indifferent towards the abduction of the Fon and other personalities, the Nso community, home and abroad, has condemned the move describing it as cowardly.

Meantime, the Muslim and Christian communities have engaged in prayers for the safe return of the people taken by separatists.

In a release the President of the Nso Development Association, NSODA, Nformi Stephen Njodzeka calls on all for a total mobilisation for the release of the fon and others.

On Friday, November 6, 2020, Cameroon’s Minister of Communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi called on the international and national community to bear witness of atrocious actions taken by separatists.
The release states that the collaboration between the population and the military secured the release of Cardinal Tumi kidnapped Wednesday, November 5, 2020, at about 5:00 pm in Baba village Babesi subdivision in the North West.

Fon Sehm Mbinglo has been out of the palace for several months. He was evacuated through a military helicopter for medical attention in 2018. Before then, he had been threatened several times by separatist fighters in Bui division. They accuse him of refusing to accord his traditional blessings for the struggle to restore the state of Ambazonia.
