The people of Nso Fondom, residing in the USA, recently held a meeting in which they celebrated culture and tradition and created the Mfuh Nso.
This was during an occasion called Mfumen Mfuh Tav Mfuh America.
It is the first time an occasion of such magnitude was taking place outside of Cameroon.
In their meeting in Washington, DC, they celebrated what they called the true taste of Africa.
The occasion was characterised by Mfuh. It is a song of victory during and after the war.
The Mfuh house is the house of war in Nso, and the people who belong there are warriors of the Fondom. That is why the dance is performed with cutlasses.
Aside from the Mfu dance, the Nso indigenes in the USA displayed the Nso juju known as Kikum.
They said the display of culture shows strength in togetherness and weakness in disunity.
Mfuh Nso USA has as its goal to promote, protect, and preserve the Nso culture and tradition in the United States.
It also supports some projects that aim to promote Nso culture in Nsoland.
Mfuh America started in 2022 under the leadership of Taa Mfoome Fon Kong Dr Emmanuel Fai, following authorization from the Paramount Fon of Nso.
Now, it has become a place of relaxation on every first Sunday of the month for Nso people and friends of the Fondom.
It has a mission to help the sons of Nso and their friends understand the true Nso traditional values.
Their major task is to educate their children, who are living in America, on Nso traditional norms and values.
