Victoria United boss galvanizes support ahead of new football season

Victoria United Football Club President, Nkwain Valentine, has expressed gratitude to players, supporters, and fans for their unwavering support during the last football season, in which the club emerged as champions of Cameroon.

Calling on fan’s continuous support, he assured them that the club is poised to deliver “remarkable results” in the upcoming season.

Victoria United, which participated in the Elite One Championship for the first time last season, exceeded expectations by clinching the championship title.

As the 2024/2025 football season approaches, Mr. Nkwain expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness, bolstered by the addition of newly acquired players and the continued support of their fans.

“We have brought in young talents, many of whom you have already seen play. Our commitment to giving opportunities to our young players has continued this season,” he wrote in a statement.

“Our team is showing great promise, and I have no doubt that we will continue to achieve remarkable results.”

Last football season, he said, was successful thanks to massive support from fans of the Limbe-based club.

Victoria United stands as the sole representative of the South West Region at the elite football level in Cameroon.

This season, they will represent Cameroon in the CAF Champions League, with the preliminary round kicking off on August 16.

The team prepares to face FC Samartex of Ghana at the Japoma Stadium in Douala this Sunday in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

In preparation for the match, Victoria United played two friendly matches against FC Agosto of Equatorial Guinea on August 1 and August 3.

The first match in Equatorial Guinea ended in a 4-1 victory for FC Agosto, while the return leg concluded with a 1-1 draw.

Nkwain Valentine is optimistic about the club’s future, having inaugurated an ultramodern residential quarters for players and club staff in Limbe recently.

“We are on the right track, the club is strong and well organized. We are fully committed to building Victoria United into a sustainable club that can be successful for the long-term,” he said.
