There have been shootings in different parts of the North West and South west regions of Cameroon since the early hours of Sunday February 9th 2020, day for voting of Parliamentarians and council representatives in the west African nation.
In Bamenda, a resident of Mile 8 Mankon, moving towards Bafut village says: ” We have been getting gunshots since 4 am. I cannot explain if it is a confrontation between military and separatists.”
In Kumba, South West region, there have been violent gunshots in Fiango, Kossala and Mabanda. A Kumba-based reporter says militants of the Social Democratic Front SDF are accusing officials of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement CPDM of ordering the military to shot and scare electorates of the SDF “and guarantee their victory”.
The atmosphere in polling stations in the North West and South West remain tense and uncertain as polls open this morning .
