During the installation of Tanjong Martin as Mayor of the Tubah council, under the CPDM party on Thursday March 12, 2020 at the conference Hall of Icham Hotel in Bambili by the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Mezam division, the mayor promised to bury the water crisis rocking Bambili, host of The University of Bamenda.
During the 2020 mid-year evaluation session of the Tubah council on July 17, 2020, the councillors mandated mayor Tanjong Martin to contract a loan from the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, to fix the water crisis affecting Bambili.
17 months after the promise, nothing has been done to that remedy the crisis.
Students and other residents in the area continue to trek for several kilometers to get water from doubtful sources.
Coupled with instability in electricity supply, students and some residents continue to lament the water crisis as some of them are even relocating to town.
“The water crisis issue is unbearable, coupled with instability in electricity supply, we hope taps will start flowing soon because I have suffered a lot”, a resident said.
Water being a precious liquid is now very difficult to come by. Politicians now use the absence of the liquid to canvass and beg for votes from the locals but failed to keep to their promises. The case of the Tubah mayor.
However, 17 months after, the council have been able to carry out some projects within the municipality.
