Dozens of Cameroonians have taken on twitter, to urge president Paul Biya to provide jobs to the youths.

They were reacting to a special Labour Day message posted by the country’s president, on his twitter page.

As Cameroon joins the rest of the world on May 1st, 2023 to celebrate Labour Day, Mr Biya wrote on twitter saying “Happy Labour Day To All.”

Bonne fête du travail à tous !
Happy Labour Day to all !#PaulBiya#Cameroun#Cameroon

But it seems many Cameroonians who are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs in the country, saw this as an opportunity to air their grievances.

“We need jobs sir. Youths are jobless,” Eric Agbor addressed Biya on twitter.

Another Cameroonian called JM Prince wants the president to present a balance sheet of his policy of ‘greater ambition’ which to him, has been an outright failure.

“…you will realise that there are no jobs…bad roads like the Douala-Yaounde highway, no dams…” Prince said.

Popol s’il vous plaît faites un peu le bilan depuis seulement les grandes ambitions vous verrez qu’ils n’ont pas travaillé : deux indicateurs : l’autoroute Douala Yaounde et les barrages et les effets escomptés.

Diakite simply asked the president to help him get a job. “I am jobless,” he said.

Some Cameroonians however, think the president has been doing well and deserves the best especially on Labour Day.

“Thank you Mr. President, may the almighty bless you abundantly,” wrote Akame Édouard Eugene on twitter.
