Media reports have confirmed that a man has beaten his 10-year-old daughter in Foumbot, in the Noun Division, West Region of Cameroon for stealing.
Stories have it that the little girl had stolen the sum of 40,000FCFA ($69) which he had kept in the house.
The 42-year-old man is believed to be an Internally Displaced Person, who had fled hostilities in the troubled North West Region.
He took residence in the West Region, where he has been with his family for quite some time.
Having been arrested by elements of the forces of law and order, this man told the uniformed men that it had become habitual for his young girl to steal from him.
He equally said it was not his intention to kill his child, as he only meant to correct her.
The girl is said to have died at a health center in Foumbot, as she collapsed midway through the corporal punishment she was being made to endure.
Investigations are set to continue. Meanwhile, the 42-year-old man is still under detention.
