West Region:
Woman Escapes Death From Mob After Pouring Hot Water on Her Child

A 28-year-old lady, Mefire Bernadette is reported to have missed being lynched in Bafoussam by an angry mob after she poured boiled water on her son.

Mefire is said to have committed the act when the little boy called Simo, was deep in sleep. The woman was seized by an angry mob after news of her action spread across the locality. Sources say, she poured the water on the child to reprimand him for being suborn

The irate population is however believed to have vowed to render appropriate justice on the lady for her wicked act. She was fortunately saved by the timely Intervention of the force of law and order who took her from the population.

The inhabitants of the area where the incident happened are said to have been vexed by Mefire’s action: “This lady is wicked and heartless .There are better ways to correct and reprimand a child. It is not by pouring boiled water on the child that will help redress the situation,” angry local said.

The same local added that “…harming our children will never be the best form of punishment.”
The little boy, 5, was quickly rushed to the hospital by some locals of the community.

Sources say this is not the first time Little Simo has suffered abuse at the hands of his mother. Months back, she is reported to have used a kitchen knife to chop off the fingers of the boy.
