What fate awaits Avenir Voyages after second deadly accident in two months?

Two months after 35 in a road accident in Ndikiminiki, Centre region, another 11 are reported to have died as another Avenir Voyages agency bus crashed hours ago.

What will be the Government’s Response?

The past couple of months will no doubt be considered by Cameroonians as extremely abject and unforgettable in terms of deaths caused by highway accidents.

In two months alone, the Avenir Voyages Travel Agency has had two of the most fatal of these accidents in the country with the first of them happening in December causing more than 35 lives, and the latest last night with at least 11 passengers dead.

After the accident at Ndikiminiki, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe visited the site and promised an investigation to be opened and for the culprits of such occurrences to be put to justice together with the appropriate sanctions.

A promise was also made by government authorities to overlook the expenses and care of the victims of the accident.

Fast forward two months and we are faced with yet another deadly accident from the same travel agency under the exact circumstances (Collision). The results of the investigation that was promised by the Transport Minister have still not been revealed.

Cameroonians have gradually become accustomed to the state’s same rigid method of handling such tragic occurrences, which in the long run spirals back to the starting point, just like the latest Avenir Voyages accident.
