Whereabouts of Ekona resident arrested by soldiers unknown

A young man arrested by military forces in Ekona is nowhere to be found. The state forces claimed, at the time of his arrest, that he knows Amba Boys.

Brion Desmond Ategha, an inhabitant of Ekona has not been found ever since he was arrested by soldiers of the Rapid Intervention Batallion, BIR, at Ekona in the early hours of Friday.

Desmond’s relatives have complained that ever since the arrest of their brother, he has not been found in neither of the military detention centers around Ekona and beyond. They fear for his life, given that he was arrested on claims that he knows some of the Ambazonian Fighters in Ekona.

Desmond’s relatives say they have had to leave their place of settlement to a center (anonymous) where they settled as IDPs.

Desmond was however not living with them but rather somewhere else. Relatives reveal he was taken alongside other people who were with him at the time.

“He was taken with some of his housemates who are males but all were released except for him who was taken away… it is equally said that the popular uniform man known as Baby Face carried out this operation,” they said.

Given the horror that most detainees who get arrested go through in the hands of military forces in the Anglophone regions, Desmond’s relatives have expressed concern as to why they have not found their brother ever since he got taken by the military from Ekona.

They plead that he be released from detention as they are convinced that their brother is innocent of the accusations being leveled against him.
