Woman Collapses and Dies While Traveling from Bamenda to Yaounde

A woman has collapsed and died. The tragedy struck on January 28, 2025, when the female passenger collapsed and died while traveling on an inter-urban bus from Bamenda to Yaounde.

The bus, which left Bamenda around 7 p.m., made an emergency stop at Banjoun after the woman, identified as Ortance, reportedly requested to relieve herself. According to an eyewitness, “It’s only after descending from the bus that she fell down.” Concerned locals urged them to rush her to the nearby hospital in Mbou. Doctors declared her dead on arrival at the hospital.

Her family members then deposited her remains at the hospital’s mortuary.

Fellow passengers recounted how two young women had brought Ortance to the bus station in Bamenda and supported her as she boarded the bus. The circumstances leading to her sudden collapse and death remain unclear.

Family members who arrived at the hospital report that after they parted ways at a funeral about a week ago, Ortance was expected to be in Yaounde.

Her corpse is pending burial arrangements.
