Some women in Bamenda in the crisis-hit North West and South West regions have used the ongoing celebration of Women’s Day today to call for an end to the bloodletting in the English-Speaking regions of the country.

Most of them said, they have cried too much given the ugly incidents that have characterized the crisis. They urged authorities to do something to reverse the situation.

Speaking on behalf of women of the North West region, Wirba Jeroline said: ” We have cried until our tears are dry. We are tired of bloodshed. There can be no meaningful development when there is no peace. Much still needs to be done for lasting peace to return to these region”.

The International Women’s Day is in its 37th edition today. It is being celebrated under the theme: “ Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”.

Humanitarian organisations report that at least 3000 persons have been killed in the conflict now in its 6th year. Meanwhile, women and children are said to be most affected by the conflict.
