Wum D.O. Orders Teachers To Resume Duties Immediately

The Divisional Officer of Wum, Ngoé Godfrey has demanded an immediate return to duty post of Government School teachers.

The call was made in a letter sent to the Principals of Government Schools in Wum on October 11, 2021. In the letter, he demanded for the list of teachers who have not resumed teaching, and has threatened them with Administrative sanctions.

Teachers in Wum have criticised the decision by the D.O, saying that he doesn’t have the security of the teachers at heart, judging from the threats he makes.

“Teachers have been kidnapped in the Bafut forest and asked to pay ransoms, but the Administration does not care for a bit about them. How are the teachers going to go to Wum?” Lamented a teacher.

This is the second of such letters by a senior Administrative authority in the North West Region. The SDO of Ndop weeks ago also ordered teachers in Ndop to resume teaching. He also proceeded to suspending their salaries for months, despite teacher’s complaint of insecurity threats posed by separatists fighters.
