A Gendarme Officer called Mendo, in the town of Yaoundé has been accused by relatives of murdering his wife with whom he has been for more than 21 years.
The deed was discovered yesterday May 12, 2021 after a heated argument that the couple allegedly had the previous night.
The family members of the deceased, Clair Charlotte Ngono, wife of the Gendarme Officer are adamant that her death was caused due to the argument which she had with her husband.
One of the deceased woman’s children, Carel Mimboe explains that the heated argument began while they all sat in the parlour together before they took it to their room where it got more intense.
“They started quarreling that evening violently. I thought they were going to stop but they went on and on…,” she narrated
“Soon , she (the deceased) left silently and went to the room and her husband followed. After sometime, he came out of the room still talking loud. He then made a call to his mother, but I do not know what they were talking about… It was around midnight that I had a suspicious feeling. So I called my mom’s number and it was the man who answered,” she explained.
Carel also adds that she decided to equally call her grandmother, the person with whom the Gendarme had spoken with on phone. She said she was also oblivious of what was going on inside their room.
“She asked me to go and check what had happened. When I knocked the door, the man scolded me and told me to break inside if I could. So I went to the window where I could see through to the room. That was when I saw my mother lying on the bed void of air. When I told him she was not breathing, he seemed less interested…,” she continued.
“I called one of my brothers who helped break the door. We carried her downstairs and realized she was no longer alive,” the heartbroken daughter narrated.
At the moment, what happened inside the room while they quarreled is still unknown. However, it is believed that the Gendarme Officer killed his wife in some way, though not very clear how.
