The corpse of the teen whose name MMI got as Fabrice was retrieved from the lake Monday January 30, 2023.

This was reportedly after three days of continuous search by the local population with the assistance of the army rescue unit.

The child reported drowned on Saturday January 28, 2023 but his corpse was only found floating on the lake three days after.

“We tried since Saturday with the army rescue but did not succeed,” a neighbor to the deceased told MMI

According to the source, they were told by locals to come on the third day.

“We were told to come on the third day and when we went there this morning we saw the corpse floating on the water,” he added.

Late Fabrice and two of his friends, reports say had gone down the lake to swim before the unfortunate incident occured.

Witnesses told MMI that they had fabricated an object to sit on in the course of swimming.

“They were three of them,” an eyewitness said adding that, “…..they fabricated one object to swim with. Others took their turns successfully… But when Fabrice took his turn, the object capsized and he drowned and could not come out.”

Monday’s discovery has left surrounding residents and family members in shock.
