Yaoundé: Two thieves specialized in phone theft apprehended, beaten by population

Two thieves who specialized in the theft of phones have been apprehended and beaten by the population in Yaounde, Centre region of Cameroon.

The two robbers were caught yesterday Wednesday, April 4, 2023, at Carrefour Centre.

According to reports, they had successfully stolen three phones from people who were waiting for a taxi by the roadside.

Their luck, however, ran out as passersby intercepted them before they could make a clean break.

As it is fast becoming the norm in Cameroon, members of the public took the law into their hands and meted out what they considered to be appropriate punishment for their crimes.

At the time of this report, the thieves were handed over to the police, MMI has learned.
