The residents of Mulang, Bamenda, awoke to a grim discovery on November 5th: the lifeless body of a young man lying in a pool of blood on Street 3. Witnesses describe him as being in his late twenties, originally from Ngie in the Momo Division. Locals claim that armed men in uniforms resembling those of Cameroon’s soldiers brought the young man to the location and killed him there.

The night before, residents reported hearing gunshots, which heightened their concerns about security in the area. “We heard gunshots outside,” shared one local resident. “When we went out, we found a man shot by armed men in uniform.”

Residents report that soldiers recently detained the deceased during a neighbourhood operation known locally as “Calé Calé.” “He was among those taken away by soldiers after their sweep in the area last week,” another resident confirmed.

Sources say the young man had at one point joined the separatist movement but had since abandoned the cause. However, he had not enrolled in the official Demobilization, Disarmament, and Reintegration (DDR) program, which some believe led security forces to suspect he still posed a risk to the community.

As of this report, the young man has not yet been officially identified. The incident has left the Mulang community shaken, as residents question the circumstances surrounding the death and the alleged involvement of security forces.
