Some 1500 University students are showcasing their talents in traditional music, cooking, poetry, and drama, among others.
This will be at the 10th edition of the University Festival of Arts and Culture, known by the French acronym UNIFAC. The event is scheduled for November 11 to 16 at the Gulf of Guinea University Institute in Douala.
The students from various states and private universities in the country will showcase their skills in music, cooking, drama, and other cultural fields.
Cameroon’s Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, will preside over the event.
The higher education ministry announced that about 2000 participants, including students, 300 officials, and 64 jury members, are expected to take part.
“for six days, public and private higher education institutions shall compete in skills and agility in an atmosphere of fair play, conviviality and healthy emulation as they quest for excellence in the following artistic discipline: Drawing, painting, traditional culinary art, African dress fashion, bilingualism, carnival, traditional dance,singing choral music, citizenship, decoration, cultural entrepreneurship, novel, tales, poetry, recitation of poems, slam, music, photography, drama and stage comedy” The communiqué signed by Minister Fame Ndongo stated.
This year’s edition is taking place under the theme “Artistic and cultural ingenuity: An added value to the creation of Enterprises in the university milieu”
There will also be capacity-building workshops in artistic and cultural disciplines, competitions, and general entertainment.
This event is another way of empowering university students in the country by bringing out talent in them.
