On May 9th 2025, the town of Ngaoundéré in Cameroon’s Adamaoua region hosted a formal epaulettes ceremony, recognising six members of the local prison administration for their professional dedication. The event took place at the town’s ceremonial square, attended by a wide range of government and security officials.
The Governor of the Adamaoua region, Kildadi Taguiéké Boukar, presided over the ceremony. He was accompanied by the Regional Delegate of Penitentiary Administration, Patrick Serge Mbita. The recognition aimed to highlight the commitment and service of penitentiary personnel who maintain order within the correctional system.
The honourees included one prison principal, administrator, intendant, and four senior prison guards. The governor officially placed epaulettes—symbols of rank and responsibility—during their promotions.
During his address, Governor Boukar emphasised the importance of discipline and diligence in the prison sector. He urged the recipients to continue upholding the principles of public service. “You have a crucial role in maintaining order and ensuring the enforcement of judicial decisions,” the governor stated.
The ceremony gathered various civil, administrative, political, and military authorities, underlining the significance of the event and the responsibilities entrusted to the penitentiary staff.
This official recognition of tthe prison administration staff serves as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce professional standards within Cameroon’s correctional institutions, particularly in the Adamaoua region.
