The esplanade of the Sultanate of Kousseri, Far North Cameroon, pulsated with the rhythm of traditional drums and ancestral songs during a major ceremony to celebrate circumcised children, a key event in the cultural and social life of Logone-et-Chari.

Faithful to preserving the values inherited from his ancestors, His Majesty Sultan Mahamat Abba II personally organized this deeply symbolic ceremony, bringing together more than 1,500 recently circumcised boys.

This strong initiative reflects the commitment of the traditional ruler to perpetuate this custom and pass on to the younger generations the foundations of the cultural identity of the people of Kousseri.

Dressed in traditional attire, the children made their official entrance under the proud gaze of parents, notables, and traditional leaders who attended in large numbers for the occasion.

The ceremony, marked by spirituality and solemnity, represents a decisive step in the lives of these young boys, now recognized as full members of their community.

Beyond the ritual itself, this event illustrates the central role of the Sultanate in fostering social cohesion, guiding youth morally, and safeguarding traditions in the face of modern change.

In Kousseri, circumcision remains more than a medical procedure—it stands as a rite of passage, a living cultural heritage transmitted from generation to generation under the enlightened authority of the Sultan.
