Sangmelima in the South region has been hit by violent protest for days now following the death of a bike rider, an indigene of the area.
Reports suggest lives were lost and several others injured in what many have termed, inter-tribal conflict as shops of predominantly persons from the West region were looted and their property destroyed.
Today, government officials like Territorial Administration Minister, Atanga Nji, South regional governor and others visited Sangmelima which doubkes as the Head of State’s village to “take stock” of the situation.
However, on the banner brandished were pictures of Paul Biya, and CPDM party flags making it look like it was a political gathering.
Many argue it’s disrespectful to the victims of the violence in the area stating that such a terrible happening should not be used for propaganda.
Similar partisan scenes have been painted several times especially in the crisis hit Anglophone regions when these officials go for peace missions or to distribute aid to the needy.
