Twenty-two members of the Renaissance Movement (MRC) party have been released from jail.
The decision today in Yaounde, comes after they spent nine months in detention. They are awaiting trial on charges of insurrection for taking part in unauthorised demonstrations after the 2018 presidential election.
Though released on bail, they are due to appear in court December 7, 2019.
A CRM lawyer told BBC today that more than 60 other MRC supporters were still being held on other “trumped-up charges”.
Less than a month ago it should be recalled, legal proceedings against Kamto and close to 100 other MRC leaders were dropped.
