There has been widespread condemnation of the killing of a military man today in Yoke, Muyuka in the South West region of Cameroon. In a video circulating on social media, boys who identified themselves as Amba fighters show the military man who has been identified as Ndongo Jean Ndel, naked and tied. He appeared to have been severely tortured. Some sources say he was kidnapped in the early hours of today to an undisclosed destination. The video also shows a grave being dug, which has led to conclusions that he might have been buried alive.
Lecturers of the University of Bamenda have called off a planned strike action. This follows a crisis meeting held at the campus of the university today chaired by the governor of the North West Region. The administration has promised to ensure maximum security for lecturers and students.

The Wouri High Court in Douala has maintained the ban on the political rally of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement CRM Political Party billed for Saturday, November 9, 2019. After studying the appeal against a ban launched by the party, the judge decided to maintain the administrative ban, describing as valid the motive of a possible nuisance to public peace
Despite the ban of a political rally of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement political party that was set to hold at Douala V on Saturday, November 9th 2019, militants of the party were seen cleaning a place called “Petite Terrain Bonamousadi” where the rally is supposed to take place. In a decision, the SDO of the Wouri division had banned the rally citing insufficient space and threats of public disorder. The rally is to witness the presence of the leader of the party, Professor Maurice Kamto. There has since been a massive mobilisation of militants to attend the political rally tomorrow.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Social Democratic Front will take place tomorrow in Yaoundé. The opposition political party among other items is expected to examine the socio-political and economic wellbeing of the country. This is the first NEC meeting SDF militants will be holding following the major national dialogue.

His mortal remains were removed from the mortuary today and honours accorded to the late international lawyer. Three persons have been killed in a road accident Nkolmetet a locality in Yaoundé, the political capital of Cameroon. Locals sources say the three were on a motorbike. The victims are two females and one male.

The body in charge of the public health service in Zimbabwe has said that 211 doctors have been sacked this week because of their on-going strike for better pay. The doctors were “found guilty of absenting themselves from duty without leave or reasonable cause” for five or more days, according to a statement from the Health Service Board. A former Congolese rebel leader known as “Terminator” will appeal against a 30-year prison sentence he was given for war crimes and crimes against humanity, the AFP news agency reports. Bosco Ntaganda was convicted on 18 counts, including murder, rape, sexual slavery and using child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
An anti-sexual harassment bill aimed at protecting university students in Nigeria has passed a second reading. Several more steps are required before the bill – introduced by the Nigerian senate in October – could become law, but the progress has been hailed by many as a positive step. Teaching staff could face up to 14 years in prison for having sexual relationships with their students. Students could also be expelled for making false accusations under the law.
The UN secretary general’s special representative for West Africa and the Sahel has called for “a national dialogue” in Guinea to end the political crisis there. Speaking to the BBC at the end of a three-day visit to neighbouring Liberia, Mohamed Ibn Chambas said there was “no alternative to dialogue”.
