Boko Haram victims took to the streets of Mayo Moskota, a locality in Mayo Tsanaga to protest against what they called, government’s silence towards their predicaments.

Messages on the placards displayed by villagers called on the state to intervene.

“No to government silence,” “We are Boko Haram victims,” “Millions of houses have been burnt and destroyed,” the messages said.

At least four people have been killed and houses destroyed in Moskota, since the start of November 2019. The area has suffered series of attacks in past months.

Several persons are without shelter as attacks on villagers multiply in the region which has been an operating theatre for Boko Haram insurgency.

The Islamist group expanded its operations in Cameroon in 2013 with skirmishes in the region which borders Chad, Nigeria and Benin.

Of the 2.3 million people displaced by the conflict since May 2013, at least 250,000 have left Nigeria and fled into Cameroon, Chad or Niger. Boko Haram killed over 6,600 in 2014.
