The Ghana Football Association, GFA has laid off all coaches of its national men and women’s football squads.

GFA in a statement Thursday said it had “dissolved the technical teams of all national teams with immediate effect”. The decision it explained, “affects both male and female national teams”.

The GFA went on to extend “its appreciation to all coaches and members of the respective national teams for their contributions to our teams and Ghana football”.

” We wish them all the best in their endeavours” it added.

Though the association has given no reason for the action yet, it comes months after GFA boss, Kurt Okraku had promised to build a new association. The move media reports note comes after allegations of bribery and corruption in it’s football milieu.

It also marks the end of the second reign of Kwesi Appiah as the men’s national team head coach.

The men’s national team, the Black Stars is one of Africa’s greatest sides in history, despite having witnessed several setbacks like their dismay performance in the 2019 AFCON games in Egypt.

In 2008, Ghana reached the 14th position on the FIFA World Rankings. They went on to secure a 100% record in their qualification campaign, winning the group and becoming the first African team to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
