The news broke out like a bombshell at 5:00 am Thursday January 16th 2020 that Journalist Jack Ekwe Kingue had journeyed to the world beyond.

Jack Ekwe Kingue has taken his last breath in Limbe, South West region of Cameroon.

He had undergone a throat operation and shortly after leaving the theatre, the cold hands of death snatched him.

Jack Ekwe Kingue’s journey in the media world began as a Limbe correspondent for Mount Cameroon FM Radio in Buea.

He later had a brief practice at Sweet FM radio in Douala before moving Equinoxe radio and TV.

Serving as a presenter and reporter, the talented journalist fondly called “The Emperor” by colleagues paid particular attention to his professional duties.

Journalists, family members and the public have been pouring condolence messages and homage on the social media for Jack Ekwe Kingue.

According Maureen Ndi, Journalist and vice president of Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalist(CAMASEJ) Douala Chapter, Jack has created a vacuum in the profession of journalism in Cameroon.

“I am still in shock since I got the news this morning of the demise of Jack. He was a devoted colleague and played an active role in the professional association. I met him in Douala on the 30th of November during an elective general assembly of CAMASEJ. Jack was frail in my eyes. When we learn of his illness in December, I was one of the executive members who visited him in Limbe. The situation was not getting better that no one could have imagine that this will happened” Maureen Ndi stated in tears.

To Mua Patrick, editor at the Guardian Post daily Newspaper “ Jack Ekwe was such a nice gentleman with exceptional skills. His demise has rendered me devastated especially as it comes less than two months following our sojourn in Douala during the elective general assembly of CAMASEJ.Till we meet again to part no more, journey well brother and friend”.

Jack Ekwe’s professional touch has left no one indifferent.

To Indira Ayuk, France 24 correspondent and former reporter at Equinoxe television “Jack will not hesitate to sit in for his colleague whenever need arises. Always smiling and encouraging his peers and colleagues. Even when he was sick, he will always encourage people around him while trusting God”.

Jack Ekwe Kingue before his death was serving as a communication officer at Bianka Institute in Buea.
