Cameroon’s armed forces over the past days have been carrying out a series of raids in the restive Anglophone regions of the country.

The raids that have intensified with the approaching elections come after president Paul Biya threatened to crush Ambazonian fighters if they fail to drop their weapons.

In Mautu, Muyuka – South West region, 7 young famers were allegedly killed by the military yesterday January 23.

The seven farmers locals say were pulled out of their houses and executed with live ammunitions. “Their wives are left in ulter despondency as they mourn with deep seated anguish” a source said adding that this is about the third time the military has killed several people in Mautu in one of its ruthless crackdowns.”

A similar raid on Dienyi in Mbonge, Meme division residents say left two civilians dead.

The forces are also said to have forcefully occupied the house of a Roman Catholic church elder, using it as their camp. “They have mounted over 20 tents in the village, they are there in their thousands” a local tells MMI.

Similar action reports state were carried out in Bekora Barombi, Ndoh estate, Njima, Mokono Barombi and Mberenge villages.

Killing scores of civilians in, they are said to be in search of Ambazonian fighters. However, “pregnant woman, children and the disabled have not been spared” says a local.

Bekora Barombi, the largest village in Ekondo Titi sub division that has been a serious battle ground since the conflict escalated into an armed conflict.

“Its surrounding villages where denizens always take refuge have also been invaded” another local states.

Since the recent wave of military raids started, the government has remained indignant to calls against alleged human right violations.
