Just after locals had thought they could finally go about their normal activities after spending the entire day indoors in respect of the ghost town, the firing started. It began a few minutes after 8:00 PM and lasted for over an hour, locals said. This chaotic atmosphere is not new in Bamenda where an armed conflict has broke out over three years ago.

Ambazonian restoration forces in Ndop- North West region have been displaying weapons seized from the Cameroonian military. In a short video making rounds on the social media, the boys say weapons, military uniforms and a motorcycle were taken from the military in an area they have refused to mention. The video comes 72 hours after armed men attacked Galim in the West region making away with weapons and scores human casualties.

Paul Achobong Tambeng- Bamenda City Mayor has called on the people of Bamenda to uphold environmental and personal hygiene to prevent the spread of coronavirus and other diseases. He led a clean-up campaign exercise today at Bamenda 1. The move was equally to fight against ghost town in Bamenda which has plagued the Region since 2017.
Some individuals are circulating tracks in Bamenda in the North West calling for an end to Monday ghost towns and lockdowns imposed by Separatist fighters. The tracks decry economic hardship as a result of lockdown and ghost town. The identity of those distributing the tracks is not known.
Three more cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Tunisia, taking the total to five. Health officials say the latest confirmed infections on Monday are in the northern port city of Bizerte, the southern resort town of Mehdia, and in the capital Tunis – they did not specify which countries they had travelled from. More than 29 people have died in Ghana after a vehicle carrying vegetables crashed into a bus. The accident happened on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway in the early hours of Monday morning. The bus caught fire and all the passengers were burnt beyond recognition, according to officials involved in the rescue. Six survivors have been rescued from the vehicle which was carrying green peppers and tomatoes. They are currently receiving medical care
A Thai person has left a hospital in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare before being tested for the coronavirus despite suspicion they may have the virus, according to Zimbabwe’s state-run newspaper The Herald. The suspected patient had gone to a local hospital and had been referred to the Wilkins Hospital for further tests, the Voice of America reported on Sunday. Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday that the country has still not had any confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Authorities in Rwanda’s capital Kigali have banned concerts and public gatherings because of fears of the coronavirus.
There is no confirmed case of coronavirus yet in Rwanda. The BBC reports that residents are divided on the new measures. Some have turned to social media to applaud the preventive move, but others see it as heavy-handed given Rwanda doesn’t have one single coronavirus case at the moment.
The mayor of Zambia’s capital Lusaka has banned handshakes in his house and replaced them with shoulder bumps in a bid to fight the coronavirus. Zambia has not recorded any case of coronavirus with all the 24 cases that were investigated testing negative, according to Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya, the BBC states.
The government in Burkina Faso says at least 43 people have been killed during an attack on two villages in the north of the country. It has announced two days of national mourning in response to Sunday’s attack in Yatenga Province, close to the border with Mali. The area has witnessed jihadist attacks as well as violence between rival ethnic militias.
Rights campaigners have called on the Ethiopian government to restore internet and mobile services that have been cut off since January in parts of the country’s largest region, Oromia. Human Rights Watch said restrictions violate multiple rights and should be lifted immediately, as many have been unable to reach their relatives in the area. Ethiopia has blocked the internet at least eight times since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to power in 2018.
