There has been an outpour of anger on social media following the death of a lady named Larissa Azenta over the weekend.

Media reports state that the succumbed to the cold hands of death after struggling with third degree burns inflicted on her by her husband.

The Guardian Post newspaper reports that after being married for three years, Larissa decided to move out of their conjugal home and rent a room for herself in the Mbankollo neighborhood in Yaounde. The angry husband would later storm her residence to pour petrol on her and set her ablaze in the room.

That was after earlier violent verbal attacks on her: “he threatened me, tortured me even at the squares where i had an article store. He went to the extent of hitting me with bottles of beer” The Guardian Post quotes the now late Larissa.

After the act, a neighbour to the victim said they first thought it was her cooking stove that had caught fire due to the gravity of the situation. Larissa’s screams brought neghbours to the scene and she was rushed to hospital, passing away later.

The perpetrator at presstime is reported to have handed himself over to the forces of law and order in the area.

The incident comes just days after a lady was stabbed in Buea by her lover for leaving him.
