The Head of State, President Paul Biya has ordered the country’s diplomatic services in Russia and across Europe to attend to Cameroonians stranded as the Russia-Ukraine war persists.

This, is according to a recent communiqué released by Cameroon’s Ministry of External Relations. The release was issued by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations In Charge of Relations with The Commonwealth Felix Mbayu.

Going by the statement, President Paul Biya has ordered for immediate handling of cases involving Cameroonians stuck in Ukraine.

The statement also revealed Biya had before now instructed the Minister of Finance to release a financial package. The Mbayu-signed statement said actions had began over three weeks ago.

The Ministry of Finance according to the release, was tasked to transfer the funds needed for this operation to Cameroon’s Embassy in Germany, which could easily get access to the Ukrainian border.

Information on Actu Cameroun suggests that a strategic follow-up unit has been set up to ensure the execution of this plan.
The release denounced social media antics that have claimed the State has done nothing to support Cameroonians stuck in the war in Ukraine.

According to the Minister, the state has taken appropriate measures to secure its citizens in the European nation. The Minister’s communiqué comes weeks after numerous online criticisms of the state for abandoning its citizens in Ukraine.
