200 pregnant women in the Tubah subdivision are to receive delivery kits when they are due in the area.

The kits donated by Senator Regina Mundi are intended to curb maternal and infant mortality within the Tubah subdivision.

According to Dr. Vitalis Feteh, District medical officer for Tubah, more than 1000 deliveries are recorded in health facilities in the area every year.

He detailed that the kits received will cover delivery expenses for registered pregnant women during delivery in their structures.

“So a woman has a voucher and when they go to the health facility they present it and the nurses and midwives will take care of her. The woman will deliver her baby and they won’t ask for the money she was supposed to pay for the delivery kits”, the District Medical Officer explained.

The donor, Senator Regina Mundi mentioned that she is driven by her passion to ensure safe delivery.

“One of the things that the kits do is to prevent excessive bleeding. It has everything that should take care of any unforeseen that can happen during delivery”, she said.

The Tubah Health District has a total of 16 health facilities and all of them will benefit from the donation.

Senator Mrs. Regina Mundi has been at the forefront of the fight against Maternal and infant mortality in the North West since her appointment as a Senator in 2018. Several health districts and hospitals have benefitted from delivery kits from the lawmaker.

Attended by the Fons of Bambui and Bambili, the Lamido of Sabga, and the Chief of Fingui, the traditional rulers called on the Senator to work closely with the palaces for a mass sensitization of the villagers to adopt safe delivery practices and better manage pregnancies.

Senator Regina Mundi also visited some pregnant women in the Bambili health center.

She was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for the Bafut-Tubah constituency, Hon. Agho Oliver.
