A famous Bamenda-based DJ has been wrongly arrested by elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, the Cameroon Elite Force.

His real crime is that he was carrying an FM transmitter — he uses for wireless microphones when he is out on duty.

The DJ whose name we got as Ambe is a popular figure in Bamenda, and happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, explained a source.

“After the May 1 Bomb blast in Bamenda, people started running in different directions. Ambe couldn’t run because he is disabled on the leg. The BIR arrested and he was one of them,” narrated a source who has been calling for Ambe’s release.

“He is innocent.
The BIR should go after the culprits and stop victimising innocent people,” the source (identify witheld) cried out.

Who is Ambe

On May 1, 2022, pictures of Ambe circulated on social media platforms of regime apologists — claiming he “masterminded a bomb blast to disrupt march past activities.”

“Ambe is a DJ working with Orange Cameroon. Everyone knows him in Bamenda. He does Orange Promotion during public outings. This is not fair.”
