The 10th anniversary of Cameroon Indigenous Women’s Forum, CAIWOF has been launched. It was launched yesterday during 4km sports in the Bastos neighbourhood of the nation’s political capital, Yaounde.

The event which regrouped some indigenous Mbororo girls and woman as well as some partners.

The physical exercise hinged on mental health sought to sensitize the indigenous women and girls on the importance of sport to their mental and physical health.
Speaking at the end the sport walk, CAIWOF’s Executive Director, Mrs Bouba Aeisatou said sports is the surest guarantee to a healthy life.

“We choose the theme  sports for mental health for women and girls in order to sensitize these women and girls on the importance of including sports their daily activities. I think it will also go along away to help them to prevent cardiovascular diseases, and having a healthier life”.

For ten years now the organization has been at the forefront of empowering the Mbororo girls and women and working with authorities to cushion the plights of indigenous women and girls in the country.

One of the young benefactor of CAIWOF’s Indigenous Girl’s Leaders programme is Lower Sixth student, Saliatu Beri who participated in the sporting activities.

“I feel so happy to be part of today’s walk and feel more relaxed now. I am very happy about CAIWOF’s 10th anniversary because this will go along to sensitize more people on the plights that we indigenous Mbororo girls face,” Saliatou said.

Prior to the walk, the participants were to a warm up sessions to prevent injuries in course of the walk.

Activities to mark CAIWOF’s 10 years of existence will culminate with gala ceremony in Yaounde on June 25. The celebration has been placed under the theme: “10 years of dedicated strides in empowering indigenous women and girls”.
