The Archbishop of the Bamenda, Andrew Nkea has visited Nacho Junction — where at least 10 civilians were killed by Separatists on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed souls. Candles were also lit at the scene in honor of the victims.

But his visit was not void of controversy.

The Archbishop surprisingly avoided the compound where five youths were killed less than 48 hours before the massacre in Nacho.

It is not clear why Bishop Nkea and his team didn’t visit the said compound.

“People here say perhaps it was because it has clearly been established that government forces carried out the killings in Awing Quarter on Saturday morning, which was a day before the Nacho massacre.”

It should be noted that Separatists dressed in military stormed Nacho, and killed a couple and nine others. The indiscriminate shootings also left four persons injured. Sources say Separatists were on a revenge mission against what they describe as black legs or traitors of their independence struggle.

No group has officially claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
