The Confederation of African Football, led by its South African billionaire President, Patrice Motsepe has gone ahead to formalise the suspension of some 23 stadiums across the continent.
The reason for the closure of these structures is due to their non compliance with acceptable standards within the framework of the requirements for the Qualification games of the FIFA world cup.
The principal countries that have been affected by this suspension are; Mali, Liberia, Central African Republic, Namibia, Malawi, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Burundi, Gambia, eSwatini, South Sudan, Somalia, Seychelles, Sao Tome, Niger, Lesotho, Chad Eritrea, Mauritius, Sierra Leone and Zanzibar.
Cameroon fortunately was not amongst the countries slammed with suspension, as it had 5 of it’s stadia approved by CAF for having fulfilled all criteria needed for approval.
