Former presidential candidate, Barrister Akere Muna, hinted on the possibility of a political coalition ahead of the 2025 elections, as he visited the seaside town of Limbe, in the South West, recently.

Prior to his Limbe outing, Barrister Akere, has been seen in meetings with prominent opposition party leaders, including Cabral Libii of the PCRN party.

Akere Muna was Presidential candidate in 2018 but backed out a few days to the elections. He is now drumming support for the opposition and massive voter registration ahead of the 2025 elections.

While the opposition in Cameroon still appears adamant to coalition, many Cameroonians believe a coalition between the major opposition parties – SDF, CRM and the PCRN – is necessary for any possibility of unseating President Paul Biya’s 41-year regime.

Barrister Akere Muna made a series of political declarations during the Limbe outing, hinting on the possibility of an opposition coalition.

“Barr. Akere Muna gets hero’s reception,” he wrote adding: “Hints on possible coalition as leader ahead of 2025 presidential election. Drums for massive registration on voters’ register. Population assures him of support.”

He was received in Limbe by dozens of admirers and supporters, among them the former SDF leadership candidate, Godden Zama.

This Limbe outing underscored Akere Muna’s growing influence as he ramps up his mobilization efforts.

Zama, the former Limbe District Chairman of the SDF, was among those ushering the politician into the town. He resigned from the SDF party in December last year after losing the contest to become the national chairman.

Although Zama had not disclosed his future political intentions following his resignation, his recent actions suggest he may be aligning with Akere Muna, whose presidential ambitions are well-known.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Zama shared photos of their meeting on social media. “Extremely elated to receive a legal colossus Batonnier Akere Muna yesterday in Limbe,” he wrote. “His passion, drive, knowledge, and love for his country has inspired a generation. Thanks for the honour, sir.”

While Zama did not explicitly outline his political relationship with Muna, his public show of support and admiration hints at a possible collaboration.
