A stand off has been reported in Shisong, North West Region of Cameroon after Ambazonian fighters stormed a local parish.

In an effort to frustrate the voting process in the area, the fighters asked faithful to return home, recounted a source.

The Catholic Church in Shisong

“We came out of church this morning and discovered that amba boys have locked all the four gates into the church yard. While in church an amba boy entered the church and warned us telling us that we are traitors by coming to church. As I write, we are still locked in the church yard,” a source told MMI.

“Voting is not taking place in Shisong but in Tobin. They have not gone to Tobin to face the military and the councilors…this is disheartening,” our continued.

Separatists had declared a ghost town, warning that no election should take place in the restive Anglophone regions where a bloody conflict started over four years ago.
