Ambazonia Governing Council spokesman Capo Daniel resigns

Emmanuel Ndong, also known as Capo Daniel, spokesman of Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC), a Cameroon separatist faction, has resigned from the organisation, citing internal disagreements as the cause of his resignation.

He announced the resignation Sunday, April 10, in a message in which he promised to continue with the separatist movement.

“I have resigned from my position in the AGOVC and the ADF due to divergence within the organisation that I think makes it impossible for me to continue serving our Liberation Movement in those capacities,” he wrote on Sunday.

“I thank Dr Cho Ayaba for his trust during my time in the organisation and will continue working for our liberation movement selflessly,” he added.

The President of AGovC, Dr Lucas Ayaba Cho, confirmed Capo Daniel’s resignation in a message and thanked him for the services he rendered to their organisation.

“We received and accepted his letter of resignation. He served the organization and our people well when very few could speak for Ambazonia. We wish him luck in his new activism endeavours,” said Ayaba Cho.

He added: “We have reached a critical point of divergence and l am obliged to accept his resignation.”

Ayaba Cho and Capo Daniel have been the main figures of the Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC) and the Ambazonia Defence Forces, one of the armed groups fighting for the secession of the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon.

Capo Daniel has been the mouthpiece of the group for many years.

What is now known as the Anglophone Crisis started in 2016 and morphed into a conflict in 2017, with the rise of several armed groups, which are controlled by different separatist leaders in the diaspora.

At least 6,000 people have died, according to humanitarian organisations, with enormous material damage and hundreds of thousands of displacements.
